Happy Easter! Jesus is alive! As we celebrated this weekend I hope you experience Jesus’s love and sacrifice in a new way. Today I am bring you a list of my favorite Easter songs. I hope these songs are a way for your to continue to celebrate the ultimate price Jesus payed, even if we can’t go to church.
“In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered His words.” — Luke 24:6-8
I love how this songs talks about Jesus overcoming. It starts with the tree, also known as the cross, the blood that was shed on it for us. Then it shifts to a song of victory. The whole ending makes you want to shout with joy. He has overcome!
“He took two broken people and showed us the scares on His hands and whispered that it was okay if we had scares too, because the scares were always bringing us in to His glory.” — Daring to Hope, page 40 , Katie Majors
We cary scars in our lives but so does Jesus. I think it is so cool that His scars are still visible. When He rose, they could have been completely healed. But through those scars people believe (See John 20:24-29).
This songs speaks about the wealth we gained from the cross. The cost was so great, yet Jesus paid it all so we could be free. We are fully alive today because of the cross. This song is one to shout out. We are rich because of the cross.
“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we will certainly also be united with Him in a resurrection like His. For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin — because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him” — Romas 6:4-8
I think this song is so vital at Easter Time because it talks about laying down our wills. That is exactly what this passage in Romans talks about. Christ death is an example of what we get to do with ourselves. But then we also get to rise again, ready to embrace what every He has for us.
I think we should have a dance party to this song at the end of every Easter service. It is so joyful! I can just imagine dancing in a room full of people jumping and praising God for the victory Jesus gives us over death and sin. He is victorious and now we get to be victorious with Him.
I love this song. Jesus has risen and overcome. Now Jesus is forever glorified. Sitting at the right hand of God knocking on each of our hearts and opening an invitation for eternal life.
Instead of so much of a worship song, these three bonus songs that more tell the story of Easter. They are all part of His Story the Musical. The way the story is told through theses songs is really touching.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter and are able to worship, not just on Easter, but all through this season!
